THE FACULTY OF SUSTAINABILITY AT LEUPHANA UNIVERSITY LÜNEBURG INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING FULL PROFESSORSHIP:

SUSTAINABLE CHEMISTRY OF RENEWABLE ORGANIC RESOURCES (W2/W3)

You explore the field of sustainable chemistry with a genuinely renewable organic resource focus and international profile and a methodically and systematically broad expertise. You will expand and enrich the field of renewable organic resources as an important subfield of sustainable chemistry from a chemical and sustainability perspective, in particular the use of renewable organic resources in terms of consistency, sufficiency and efficiency. This includes superordinate aspects such as the oportunities and limitations of material recycling or the circular economy with regard to chemical products and sustainable chemistry, e.g. with regard to services and alternative business models. Chemistry-specific issues are important too, such as the development of green analytical methods and appropriate new teaching formats and contents. In your research, you focus on national as well as international context e.g. countries of the global south, since there are partly more and other renewable bioresources there, which will be nationally but also regionally important in the future.

Further, you know how to transfer your research into practice, which contributes, to a sustainable transformation. Thus, your engagement in interdisciplinary research and teaching concepts is important to you and you share our interest in common transdisciplinary research and teaching projects.

For this position, we are seeking a committed researcher with an outstanding international research profile in combination with a track record of unique ideas put into action, impacting their field as well as society. Women are especially invited to apply.

Your academic work gives evidence of innovative contributions to teaching and research, your talent for cooperating with partners inside and outside academia and your strong commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue. Further you fullfil all formal requirements according to § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG). Those are a university degree in organic chemistry, environmental chemistry or green chemistry with own contributions and an understanding of sustainable chemistry. Knowledge on organic analytical chemistry would be an advantage. Your aptitude for teaching (e.g. visible by teaching evaluations); and your ability to engage in independent academic research can be demonstrated by outstanding quality of your dissertation; and additional academic achievements obtained i.e. in the course of being an assistant professor, during your postdoctoral lecture qualification (German: Habilitation) or other achievements recognized as being equivalent to a postdoctoral qualification.

At Leuphana you will find an academic community that is open to changes in perspective and cultivates the dialogue among the different disciplines as well as between research and practice. With spirit and initiative, we address the challenges of civil society in the 21st century. Pursuing our idea of liberal education, our students are enabled to think, question and act upon it. Our professors foster the awareness of gender and diversity aspects in teaching as well as research.

For further information, please contact the dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr. Henrik von Wehrden (henrik.von_wehrden@leuphana.de) or the head of the institute for sustainable chemistry, Prof. Dr. Klaus Kümmerer (klaus.kuemmerer@leuphana.de).
