Job Summary:
Provides support for education program initiatives of the Institute for the Advancement of Community Health (IACH), including degree and non-degree programs and connecting Furman faculty and students with opportunities at partner institutions.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

1. Assists the Executive Director with the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the Institute for the Advancement of Community Health.
2. Assists the Education Program Director with maintenance of strategic relationships with Prisma Health, University of South Carolina, Clemson University and other key partners to strengthen, support and advocate on behalf of undergraduate and graduate educational programs.
3. Assists the Education Director for graduate programs developed by IACH, including coordination with academic departments and Graduate Studies for program administration and processes.
4. Assists Education Director in conjunction with the Associate Director to manage funds flow and compensation.
5. Collaborates with the Office of Health Careers Advising to support academic and career advising for Furman graduate students.
6. Provides support and coordination to IACH education external communications strategies to include reports, presentations and publications of outcomes to the university, external partners, and funders as well as presentations to potential partners, community groups, individuals and state/national groups.
7. Assists in the development and execution of grants and assures collection of appropriate records to support grant funding and reporting.
8. Completes performance review process with supervisor to understand job performance and expectations and how they fit into the institute and university goals; Follows safety procedures.

Relationships:
Continuous contact with members of own work unit to plan, coordinate, problem solve, exchange information, and make suggestions related to mutual and institutional goals.

Frequent interaction with Furman faculty/staff and GHS HSC staff to exchange information, engage in creative problem solving and explore opportunities for new initiatives.

Frequent contact with external constituents including other education institutions, foundations, community organizations and healthcare institutions to exchange information, opportunities and coordinate activities and programs.

Responsibility for Final Decisions:
Responsible for own work.

Reviews work to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and deadlines.

Tasks involve interpretation of data and/or procedures to address problems or situations that are not clearly defined. Work involves non-routine/diverse work not defined by procedures.

Tasks often involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes and steps before rendering final decisions. Work includes decisions regarding programs and allocation of resources.

Spends time planning, scheduling, and assigning priorities of several ongoing assignments.

Reports To: Executive Director Institute for the Advancement of Community Health
Work is performed independently except where the interpretation of law, policy, rule, complex procedure or request for exception is required.

Education/Skill Requirements:
Graduate degree preferred.
Experience teaching in and/or coordinating graduate-level health education programs preferr

Effective oral and written communication skills .
Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to supervise and motivate others.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills .

Work Conditions:

Work is performed under usual office conditions.
