BASIC FUNCTION:
The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and laboratory instruction in one or more areas of Digital Art such as Computer Art, Animation, Film, 3D, Graphic Design, Web Design, Comic Art, and Applied Digital Media. This candidate will also be responsible for developing a comprehensive program in Digital Art/Film/Design/Media in collaboration with both the Art and Business/CIS Departments.

EDUCATION:
Master's degree in Art (or the equivalent) is required. Master's degree in Digital Media, Graphic Design, or the equivalent, is highly preferred. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions)

EXPERIENCE:
Three years of work experience in Graphic Design, Web design, Motion graphics, Computer Animation, and Digital Art is required. Substantial industry experience using current Adobe software in graphic design is required, along with the ability to teach foundation-level computer software programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects. A minimum of two years teaching at the college level is also required.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Candidate must submit a professional portfolio of twelve (12) recent works demonstrating both technical and aesthetic skills in their area of expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Instructional assignment will include lecture and laboratory classes in a variety of graphics arts courses in the applied digital media program.

2. Utilize a variety of teaching methods and technologies to keep students motivated and engaged.

3. Maintain professional expertise in graphic design, digital media and computer technology in order to assist in keeping the discipline up to date with current educational and industry standards.

4. Maintain and propose curriculum when needed and as prescribed by the advisory committee and college policy.

5. Serve on college committees and/or councils as assigned and complete institutional service activities that are expected of all faculty members.

6. Coordinate assessment of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, and improve the program instruction based on these assessments.

7. Assist with student advising and recruitment and collaborate with discipline faculty on program promotion.

8. Completion of required professional development through various activities, workshops or seminars.

9. Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.

10. Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, office hours, committee work, curriculum and program development, student learning outcomes assessment, program review, student activities, and other duties per the bargaining unit agreement

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Ten-month, tenure-track position.
2. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.
3. Medical and dental benefits are provided for the employee and legal dependents.
4. A $50,000 life insurance policy is provided for the employee.
5. Orientation to college is required as is adherence to Improvement of Instruction policy.
6. Maintaining broad knowledge of academic or occupational area and design pedagogy related to learning outcomes is expected.
7. Responsible for all other conditions of employment required of full-time faculty members such as a willingness to be involved in District promotional activities, active participation in college committee work, student activities and other support services, and appropriate professional activities.
