The Department of World Language at the University of Utah invites applications for a unique 12-month, non-tenure-track career-line Korean lecturer position to join our growing international team. The successful applicant will teach Korean Language courses at the University of Utah Asia Campus in Songdo, Incheon, South Korea (see Utah Asia Campus (UAC) at https://songdo.utah.edu/). Initial appointments will be for 1 year but can be extended for additional terms. We are looking for faculty who are excited to help build this new campus and support the development of cross-cultural educational opportunities. All interaction with students and faculty is generally in English on campus. In language classes, however, the target language will dominate. Following best practices, Korean should be used as much as possible in the classroom to develop an immersion experience.

This position is open to applications at all academic ranks. We anticipate an initial one-year appointment with renewable annual appointments at the UAC upon satisfactory performance reviews. Salary is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are provided a health benefit plan. Note: This 12-month position requires relocation to South Korea, and housing is provided for UAC employees. The UAC provides some personal and professional travel expenses. The successful candidate will teach seven core courses in the undergraduate program per year, typically in a 3-4, 4-3, or 3-3-1, with the single course being taught during summer or winter break.
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Korean (exceptional candidates at the MA level may be considered), significant experience teaching Korean in a hands-on classroom environment, and some experience in developing instructional and Korean language curriculum.
