Responsibilities:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Akron is seeking applicants for a full-time non-tenure track (NTT) faculty position in our ETAC of ABET accredited Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology program at the Associate Professor of Practice rank beginning Fall Semester of 2021. The primary focus of this position is teaching and preparing graduates for professional careers. Research is not required.

 

The selected candidate will develop, revise and deliver lecture and laboratory courses in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology at both the associate and baccalaureate levels to day and evening students. Additional duties include: updating and maintaining laboratories and equipment; maintaining technical currency; actively participating in University, college, department, and program committee work; assessment/accreditation responsibilities; student recruitment.


Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science in either Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology; a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering OR a closely related master’s degree; five years of relevant and verifiable teaching experience; three years of relevant and verifiable industrial experience; and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

 

Must have a passion for the profession and the ability to teach in a wide variety of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology courses in the following areas: Fundamental DC & AC Circuit Analysis, Fundamental and Advanced Electronic Theory & Applications, Digital Circuits, Electronic Communications, Virtual Instrumentation & Data Acquisition and Computer Simulations in Electronic Engineering Technology, and Capstone courses in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional engineering license; experience with ETAC of ABET accreditation process; experience with curriculum and program management; and experience teaching Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology courses in the following areas: Fundamental DC & AC Circuit Analysis, Fundamental and Advanced Electronic Theory & Applications, Digital Circuits, Electronic Communications, Virtual Instrumentation and Data Acquisition, Computer Simulations in Electronic Engineering Technology, and Capstone courses in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.
