Associate Vice President, Partnerships, Cooperative Education & Career Development

Position Description: Cleveland State University (CSU), an urban public research institution committed to student success seeks an associate vice president for partnership, cooperative education & career development. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, this newly created role will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive and integrated strategy to engage potential employers and develop employer-student connections, on-campus student employment, internships, co-ops and post-graduation jobs.


The Associate Vice President, Partnerships, Cooperative Education & Career Development will manage a team of student employer professionals to deliver a comprehensive and integrated strategy for employer relations and employer-student connections, that lead to career opportunities. The Assistant VP is charged with the development and execution of a high impact, intentional student employment experience for CSU students and will also develop and manage the process to create a first-rate internship and co-op program. The Assistant VP will oversee the execution of the employer-student recruiting function and day-to-day operations to provide employers top of the line service, and collaborate cross functionally to execute proposed and existing initiatives to meet strategic talent pipeline goals. The Assistant VP will be an innovative, self-directed professional leader who is comfortable with technology and has a commitment and passion for learning and student success.


The role will model entrepreneurship, financial stewardship, strategic thinking and communication to build collaborative relationships across CSU, community groups and external agencies that drive greater efficacy and create new opportunities to showcase the university and its students. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Business Administration, or a closely related field preferred.
    • Minimum of seven years previous experience in one or more of the following: career services, recruitment, advising, student recruitment/retention, related student services, sales, customer service, project/program management.
    • Experience with and appreciation of diversity, equity and inclusion.
