Under the Provost, a new office, tentatively named Education Outreach and Digital Education Innovation, will focus on the expansion of educational opportunity as part of the long-range strategic plan for the University. It is led by a Special Assistant to the Provost. This new office will develop and implement Stanford's next digital education strategy in support of the broader strategic aims of the university. The team will focus on expanding access to higher education, solving fundamental problems in education related to equity, and extending Stanford's impact within and beyond campus. The office will serve as a university-wide digital learning hub and will foster collaboration among Stanford schools and offices. Proactive, outbound approaches to educational partnerships will be a core function of the team, as we seek to solve critical problems in education.
The team will be hiring a Project Management Coordinator, reporting to the Chief of Staff for the team, that will be responsible for helping to launch pilot programs over the summer and support long-range programs starting in the fall. The PMC will work closely with Project Managers and assist them in managing assigned projects, coordinating technical and administrative aspects of assigned projects. The PMC will work on multiple projects of different scale and scope at any one time.
Successful PMC candidates will be flexible and able to work with a high degree of ambiguity. They will be able to work collaboratively and productively, and be energized by a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment. A background in education in some form, preferably with some online or otherwise innovative education programs would be preferable. The PMC will need to work collaboratively with faculty and be comfortable communicating with a variety of audiences, putting customer-service and problem solving at the core of the work.
Review project plans and proposals, and work with management to develop project objectives; identify project responsibilities by determining the phases and elements of the project; calculate time frames and sequence the stages of the project.
Perform project management oversight of small projects or more than one large task within a larger project.
Oversee, coordinate, and perform technical aspects of project, with guidance, based on type of project manager support required (e.g., engineer, quality, scheduler).
Review, evaluate, approve, and monitor cost schedule and technical scope baselines.
Ensure the preparation of required project documentation.
Contribute to communication plan and change management elements.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Polished written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
Ability to productively contribute to cross-functional teams.
Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.
Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.
Certifications and Licenses: None
Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.
Rarely use a telephone, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, reach/work above shoulder, grasp forcefully.
