Job Summary:
The Malone Center for Career Engagement (MCCE) directly supports The Furman Advantage by educating, connecting, and preparing students for lives of purpose and accelerated career and community impact. The Marketing, Events, and Operations Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing an effective marketing strategy to increase student engagement with the Malone Center throughout their Four-Year Pathway at Furman. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all department communication including website, social media, email campaigns, newsletters, publications and annual reports in accordance with Furman University branding guidelines. The position will manage the logistics for all department events including career fairs, career treks, employer information sessions and on-campus interviews. In addition, the coordinator with supervise a team of 2-3 student workers to provide exceptional front-line customer service to all constituents of the Malone Center including students, employers, faculty, staff, parents and alumni.

Job Description:

Marketing/Communications (55%)
  • Develop and implement a multifaceted marketing/communication strategy to increase student engagement with the Center's programs and resources.
  • Create and distribute effective marketing materials and publications for MCCE programs and resources in accordance with Furman University branding guidelines.
  • Manage department website and social media (YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn) channels.
  • Manage email communication strategy, including weekly student newsletters, industry-targeted email messages, and monthly faculty newsletters.
  • In collaboration with Assistant Vice President, compile data and create annual report for Malone Center for Career Engagement.
  • Serve as the Malone Center's liaison to University Communications.

Event Management (30%)
  • Manage event logistics including catering, transportation, room reservations for career fairs, career treks, and other signature events.
  • Coordinate logistics and manage employer information sessions and on-campus interviews.
  • Host employers during their on-campus recruitment events including recruiter check-in, room set-up, audio-visual equipment, and general hospitality.

Operations (15%)
  • Hire, train, and supervise 2-3 student workers that will serve as the first point of contact and provide exceptional customer service to students, employers, faculty, staff and other constituents that visit the Malone Center for Career Engagement.
  • In absence of student workers, respond to incoming phone calls and general email inquiries for the Center in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for providing Handshake (Career Management System) support to students and employers. Provide support to Assistant Director of Employer Engagement with posting and approving job postings in Handshake.
  • Serve as the primary purchasing card holder for Center; order supplies and make purchases on behalf of the Malone Center for Career Engagement team.


REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or related field strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Applications, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Proven event planning and marketing experience
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail is essential
  • Collaborative team player
  • Website design (WordPress) and social media management skills
  • Commitment and demonstrated ability to establish good working relationship with students, faculty, staff, employers from diverse backgrounds including race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and ability.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in a higher education environment, providing direct service to students.
  • Formal experience in a university Career Center.
  • Experience supervising student workers.
  • Proficiency in Career Management Software programs such as Handshake, Symplicity, or GradLeader.
