About Us:

Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for nearly 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Executive Director oversees the staff and board of the Cecil College Foundation, developing its strategic plan and serving as the college’s primary fundraiser and advancement representative. This position reports to the vice president and works collaboratively with the president’s team and college community to assess student success needs and develop necessary resources. Given the need of interaction with employees, student and college community, this position requires in-person presence.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

· The executive director oversees the staff and board of the Cecil College Foundation, developing its strategic plan and serving as the college’s primary fundraising and advancement representative.
· The executive director is responsible for all Foundation operations including development, cultivation, board relations, special events, and alumni relations.
· The executive director designs, plans and implements the annual and employee giving campaigns as well as major gift campaigns.
· This position reports to the vice president and works collaboratively with the president’s team to assess student and College needs and develop necessary resources.
· Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master’s degree required. Will consider applicants that are committed to obtaining a Masters degree from an accredited institution with 2.5 years of hire.

Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of successful fundraising experience including annual fund and alumni association management. Five (5) years of proven fundraising board management and five ( 5) years of donor and corporate cultivation experience. Must have at least five years’ experience working with budget development and fund management. At least five years’ experience supervising a staff.

Skills/training: Preference will be given to candidates that have at least 7 years of experience designing and implementing all aspects of a successful annual fund, event design and management, alumni association development, strategic planning, and leadership of a volunteer fundraising board. in higher education.

Proficiencies: Must possess strong effective oral and written communication skills; be proficient in Microsoft Office and fundraising software (Abilia and Sage preferred).

Scheduling Requirements: 37.5/hrs week; 8 am-4:30 pm with planned evening board and other meetings & occasional weekend events as needed. Given the need of interaction with employees, student and college community, this position requires in-person presence.

Physical Demands: Minimal lifting of publications and set-up of materials and display equipment as required.

Other Requirements: Requires attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work within deadlines. Work collaboratively with others
