Director of the Hollins Fund
Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of the Hollins Fund. The Hollins Fund goal is $3.55 million, and provides critical operating support comprised of restricted and unrestricted funds.
Under the supervision of the Vice President for External Relations, the Director of the Hollins Fund manages the Hollins annual giving program, and is responsible for the planning, implementation, and execution of strategies and activities to meet revenue goals. This includes solicitation strategies, analytics on annual giving performance, and plans to increase both revenue streams and alumnae/i participation.
The Director of the Hollins Fund manages a variety of programs. These programs include, but are not limited to, direct mail solicitations, leadership gift solicitations, reunion and class giving, faculty/staff solicitations, and parent solicitations. This position is expected to manage a portfolio of prospects and donors focusing on leadership gifts of $1,842 or more. Also, the director oversees volunteer engagement in the Hollins Fund including the recruitment, management, and training of alumnae/i and others. Additionally, the director supervises the work of the Assistant Director of the Hollins Fund.
Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, knowledge of annual giving programs, and at least five years of fundraising experience in annual giving programs or four years of development experience, including a successful track record of work in annual giving and working with volunteers, students, and campus constituents. Additionally, they must have experience in a variety of solicitation and communication techniques, including direct mail, social media, personalized gift solicitation, and also in the strategy of multiple campaigns. Furthermore, candidates must have experience in data-driven decision-making, including the ability to analyze an annual giving matrix and provide strategic decisions.
Proven abilities to meet deadlines and goals, make sound judgments, and manage confidential and sensitive matters are required, as are abilities to work independently and collaboratively, mentor and manage staff and volunteers, and listen to and communicate effectively with a variety of constituents. Demonstrated success working with diverse populations is also needed. Also required are proven written and oral presentation skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational, detail, accuracy, and project management skills.
Applicants must have a valid United States driver’s license with minimal violations and abilities and willingness to travel by ground and air throughout the United States and to work nights and weekends as needed. Final candidates will be subject to criminal history, credit history, and motor vehicle background checks. Preferred applicants will have experience with private, liberal arts, and/or single-sex higher education institutions, as well as with Anthology/iModules Encompass and Ellucian Banner.
