Director of Athletic Facilities and Game Day Operations



Haverford College invites applications for our full time, exempt (at least 37.5 hours per week) benefit eligible Director of Athletic Facilities and Game Day Operations position. This position reports to the Director of Athletics and carries responsibility of overseeing the operation of all Haverford College's athletic facilities which includes maintenance and scheduling.

Execute all aspects of game day management including hiring and supervising student workers, communicating with visiting teams and officials prior to and on game day and addressing any crowd control issues. Ensure compliance with all NCAA, Conference and College rules. Work with the Office of Summer Programs to ensure a smooth transition for scheduling summer usage. Additional administrative duties will be assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain liaison with college and athletic administrators, security, grounds, and facilities management staff in the scheduling and preparation of facilities for intercollegiate contests, club sport and intramural contests/practices, physical education activities, and non-Haverford events.
  • Implement and Enforce departmental policies regarding hours of operation and individual access. Interact in a timely and professional manner with all constituents requesting use of the athletic facilities.
  • Schedule all intercollegiate, club/intramural, physical education, student activities, other College related events and non-Haverford events in the EMS scheduling system and distribute a schedule of those activities to other departments (physical plant, etc.) as requested.
  • Event Supervisor for all home intercollegiate contests. May request alternative supervision staff on days that conflict with other responsibilities. Involved in the logistical planning of conference and NCAA championships held on campus. Responsible for hiring and assigning student workers for game day management.
  • Responsible for enforcing and maintaining contracts for all non-Haverford groups using the Athletic Facilities.
  • Operate within a budget that covers all operational costs of the athletic facilities.
  • Assignment of locker rooms for all varsity teams. Provide laundry services during traditional and non-traditional seasons with the help of 2-3 student workers.
  • Responsible for the storage of equipment and/or for facilitating spaces for such storage for Varsity Teams, Club Sports, Intramurals, and Physical Education Classes.
  • All Full Time athletic personnel must attend monthly College Administrative Professional Staff meetings, athletic staff meetings as scheduled, weekly athletic logistics meetings, other special college meetings as announced.
  • Represent Haverford at all times in a professional manner.
  • 1st Aid, CPR, AED Certifications


Other Duties As Assigned:

Such assignments will be made by and discussed with the Director of Athletics.

Line of Reports: The Director of Athletic Facilities & Game Day Operations reports directly to the Director of Athletics.

Education, Training and Experience :

Bachelor's Degree is required

College facilities/game day management experience and Master's degree strongly desired.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain PA Act 153 child abuse clearances
  • Ability to be available for evening and weekend games and events
  • Valid U.S. drivers' license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check
  • Priority will be given to candidates who currently hold the First Aid, CPR and AED certifications; should the final candidate not currently hold those certifications, they will be provided an opportunity to obtain them in the first 30 days of employment


Essential or Non-essential Employee:

This status determines for the identification, treatment of time, and use of “Essential Personnel” during campus emergencies, including those that dictate suspension of services and/or closure of operations, i.e. inclement weather. During an emergency, Essential Personnel are required to be on campus in order to provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the College, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect College's properties.
