The Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, is seeking an individual for a full-time faculty position to include research responsibilities in Malaria Transmission Biology. The qualified applicant is expected to have extensive expertise in mass spectrometry, metabolomics, proteomics, molecular and cellular parasitology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. The applicant must display strong leadership skills and is expected to mentor staff, graduate, postdoctoral researchers, and students.

Ph.D. in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, molecular and cellular parasitology, or a closely related field; evidence of first-author research productivity (10 or more first author publications, presentations, etc.); expertise in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and proteomics, pathway/systems modeling of multi-omic datasets; specific expertise required in UHPLC and nanoHPLC method development, metabolomics and proteomics workflows (including method development and data analysis); research experience with isobaric mass tagging (iTRAQ/TMT) of peptides, in vivo protein labeling via non-canonical amino acids, protein electrophoresis and western blot, affinity purification methods, purification and functional characterization of proteins, in vitro culturing of Plasmodium falciparum asexual and sexual parasites, molecular cloning, genetic engineering of parasites (experience with CRISPR-Cas technology preferably), PCR, RT-qPCR, and confocal immunofluorescence microscopy; ability to develop an original research program in the fields of chemical biology and parasitology; and must have at least 5 years of postdoctoral research experience in a US or European laboratory.
