Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

VCU Employee Health Services ( EHS ) has an exciting opportunity for an Office Assistant to join our team! EHS seeks culturally and professionally diverse individuals with experience in customer service and administrative assignments.

The primary responsibilities of the Office Assistant include, but are not limited to:

Provide exceptional office and administrative support for EHS and its clinical staff.

Promote exceptional customer service in an intense, fast-paced office environment.

Provide secretarial and clerical support to the Director of EHS, utilizing available resources of the University and Health System.

Facilitate staff requests for procurement activities.

Serve as timekeeper for EHS .

Manage the filing system, ensuring charts are filed, pulled and processed appropriately.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Experience working in a fast-paced office environment, required.

Exceptional, proven customer service skills.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with multiple and varied customers.

Experience using a wide array of office machines, required.

Ability to exercise judgment, appreciate diversity and respect differences.

Ability to maintain confidentiality required.

Experience with Microsoft Office products and knowledge of medical office procedures preferred. Ability to use IDX /Cerner scheduling patients.

Attention to detail and ability to recognize an emergency situation required.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .
