Director, School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Science in the College of Health and Human Services is accepting applications for the position of Director. This is a 12-month position.

Primary Job Duties: This is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a dynamic university academic leadership team. The Director of the School of Health Sciences oversees a school of 28 full-time faculty members supporting four undergraduate majors (Public Health, Exercise Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Respiratory Therapy) and two graduate degree programs (Master’s Degrees in Health and Human Performance and Athletic Training). All programs in the School are accredited by their respective agencies. Programs with graduates requiring certification or licensure hold above average pass rates on these exams. Some of the School’s programs are offered at satellite sites. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services and is a key member of the College’s academic leadership team. The Director must provide visionary leadership for the promotion of ethical professional conduct and evidence-based practice in attending to the health and human services of a diverse and interdependent society. The Director will be effective in collaboration with other directors and University leadership regarding diversity and inclusion, accreditation support, strategic enrollment planning, curriculum development and delivery, and community engagement.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the health sciences or related discipline; teaching and research achievement that would warrant appointment as a full professor in one of the School’s programs; excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem-solving, follow-through, time management, and communication skills; budget planning and management experience; must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment; and a successful record of progressive leadership in higher education including at least three consecutive years of administrative experience at the department chair level or above.

Preferred Qualifications: We seek a leader with demonstrated performance and leadership in academia who is strongly committed to expanding access to careers in health and healthcare, teaching and research excellence at all levels, and effective collaboration with local agencies. Demonstration of success in recruitment and retention of diverse students, faculty and staff; attainment of external funding, including fundraising; support of faculty appointment, promotion and tenure; and strategic planning and enrollment management.
