Key Responsibilities

This position provides support for the adoption, integration, and delivery of instructional technologies to ensure the institution is effectively using our learning management system and related teaching and learning tools. This position reports to the Director of Digital Learning and works collaboratively to build and maintain strong relationships across teaching and learning functions and with key stakeholders. This individual also designs training sessions, produces training materials, and reviews courses against quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with and provide support to instructors in identifying and integrating technology into instruction through identifying instructional problems, developing delivery strategies using technology as an instructional tool, and evaluating the effectiveness of this type of instructional delivery.
• Provides technical support by diagnosing and resolving problems encountered by instructors in using the learning management system and other instructional technologies.
• Coordinates online course development projects. Identify project goals, timelines, and resource needs including professional development. Provides regular progress updates and tracking. Evaluates outputs according to established standards.
• Provides exceptional customer service and applies relevant instructional design models to the design and development of online, blended, web-enhanced, and traditional face to face learning environments.
• Supports the development and creation of accessible online learning experiences.
• Conducts quality assurance reviews through the lens of Quality Matters principles.
• Creates accessible training materials, workshops, and reference guides for instructional technologies, onboarding new instructors, and general/institution wide use cases.
• Maintains awareness of best practices, emerging technologies and new potentials in educational technology that may be adopted as new and emerging instructional media, technologies, pedagogies and practices.
• Assists with the process for systematic review and evaluation of educational technology and curricular innovation, including the development and monitoring of outcomes and plans of action for improvement.
• Develops and maintains an online repository of resources to provide information on current best practices, innovations, and emerging trends for instructors and students (e.g. tutorials, interactive programs, websites) to promote sharing of resources.

Position Qualifications

Minimum
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Instructional Design, Educational Media, Educational Technology, or a related field
• Well-developed knowledge, skills, and abilities with learning management systems
• Proficient in a variety of educational technologies and software
• Demonstrated ability to proofread, edit, and produce effective written materials and presentations
• Experience using Articulate 360, Flipgrid, Adobe Creative Cloud, Zoom and MS Teams
• Experience supporting instructors who are delivering content in a variety of modalities
• An understanding of how to apply instructional design methodologies ( ADDIE, SAM )
• Proven ability working with tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment with limited resources
• Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and teams
• Flexible schedule (some evening work may be required)

Supervision Required/Given

This position is supervised by the Director of Digital Learning under general guidelines and direction and must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred
• Successful experience as an instructional technologist at a college or university
• Instructional design and/or instructor experience with Moodle
• Experience creating content that is accessible to students with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities

Physical Demands

Work Conditions:
• After hours and on call support is required for emergencies and planned maintenance intervals.
• The position is primarily sedentary in a climate controlled office with little exposure to environmental hazards. In a campus environment, there may be a need to go from building to building for meetings, specialized department needs, and assisting with equipment installations.
