Human Resources Job Description

Job Description Summary:

Develop tools, create models and leverage internal and external data to examine short term operational and long term strategic workforce planning. Recommend strategies and create a strategic workforce plan of the future workforce based on historical performance, predictive analytics and scenario based analysis. Recommend measurable strategies to achieve workforce goals.

Deliver analytics and make recommendations to enable leaders and HR to proactively plan talent needs, evaluate the effectiveness of workforce attraction, identify past and future trends and make informed human capital decisions in line with the mission of the college.

Monitor and measure employee engagement, retention, training, coaching and knowledge management.

Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Play an advisory role by synthesizing human capital data, building relevant analysis and interpretation, communicating results clearly and recommending courses of action based on the insights.

Develop and maintain accurate forecasts to predict staff needs and data on work volume and to develop immediate and long-term staffing needs. Consider questions such as: What skills will we need to best serve the college’s mission in 5 years’ time? What changes to our staffing pyramids do we need to make to maintain relevance?

Understand the process of data integration: including finding effective solutions to utilize workforce data from Workday.

Conduct demographics analysis of staff for succession planning and d evelop staffing projections based on upcoming retirements, leaves, etc

Analyze data to recommend improved business operations, including how to identify critical positions and pinpoint jobs that have become obsolete.

Prioritize new positions based on the strategic goals of the college, make recommendations and provide cost/benefit estimates.

Perform workforce analysis for budget planning and strategic planning.

Identify and leverage relevant sources of external and internal data. Benchmark against competitors. Provide labor market assessments to support decision making.

Research, participate in and develop tools and surveys to monitor and measure employee engagement, retention, training, coaching and knowledge management. Recommend programs that provide the most impact on employee happiness, retention, and productivity.

Understand and keep current on the latest human capital and talent analytic trends, research and tools and make informed assessments of where potential enhancement opportunities exist. Generate innovative ideas to employ in deliverables.

Develop strong partnerships across the college to deliver complex messages and insights.

Consult with senior leadership and business partners to understand strategic imperatives. Understand needs and business questions to determine the analysis and deliver cohesive and integrative recommendations.

Promote the use of data to support workforce decision-making.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong HR functional background. 3-5 years of increasing data analysis and interpretation experience.

Master’s degree. Workday experience.

Skills:

Demonstrated statistical analysis skills.

An overall understanding of people data analysis and reporting with process knowledge related to people data.

Operational experience or knowledge with HR processes and systems related to workforce reporting, recruiting, learning, performance management and overall people data.

Strong ability to define data requirements, gather and validate data and other information, apply judgment and statistical tests.

Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Ability to represent and explain complex models and forecasting principles.

Ability to think both logically and creatively with strong design aesthetic and visualization skills.

Strong relationship and communication skills.

Strong technical experience in the Microsoft suite (Excel, PowerPoint), dashboarding tools (Tableau).

Highly organized with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, resource requirements and meet deadlines.

Ability to work well in a high performing team environment and to work independently.

A strong commitment to continuous learning.

Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
