The Coordinator of Mentoring Programs manages the fullCIRCLE and Dimensions Mentoring Programs and assists the Associate Director of Office of Multicultural Affairs with additional targeted population efforts. fullCIRCLE is a sustainable, multilayered program designed to assist its participants in effectively adjusting to the different challenges of college life with the goal of retention. Dimensions is designed to address and generate awareness of issues that impact women from diverse backgrounds through a facilitated mentoring program in which women of color support each other, engage in dialogue about pertinent issues, and acquire leadership and professional development skills. The position also serves as the lead co-chair of the planning committee for Latino Heritage Month (September 15-October 15). Position also participates in community outreach initiatives, particularly to the Latino community

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with two (2) plus years of experience in multicultural student services with specific experience in advising, mentoring, and training student volunteers.

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Cultural Foundations of Education, Sociology, or related field preferred.

• Must have participated in developing, implementing, managing, and sustaining a mentoring program for undergraduate students; ability to train and supervise mentors.

• Must possess strong organizational skills.

• Must have an awareness of multicultural mentoring best practices.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Individual must have excellent interpersonal skills, strong sense of follow-through, strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, screen, train, support, and track volunteer mentors for all programs. Mentors are either faculty, staff, alumni, employers, or upper-class students.

• Meet individually with first year and upper-class students who are either mentees or peer-mentors at least twice a semester.

• Serve as lead co-chair of a committee to plan and implement the Latino Heritage Month events and activities.

• Utilize assessment practices to evaluate mentoring programs for continuous improvement.

• Assist partner staff in creating systems for supporting and managing mentors.
