Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

Massey Cancer Center is seeking a Senior Manager/ Assistant Director of Training and Education will report into the Administrative Director of the Massey Cancer Center, Clinical Trials Office. In collaboration with the Massey Cancer Center, Clinical Trials Office leadership, the CTO department and group Heads, the Training and Education Assistant Director supports the growth and development of the Massey Cancer Center by achieving strategic objectives including overseeing multiple project activities related to training and education of clinical research staff and investigators. The Manager is responsible for assigned research infrastructure development, oversees projects, communicates status and improvement areas to leadership and works with leadership teams to plan, develop and implement new strategies. Ensures compliance with all federal and local agencies including the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA ) and local Institutional Review Board ( IRB ). This position develops, implements and maintain a comprehensive faculty and staff training program from onboarding of new employees through employee departure from the institution. The program will include a variety of topics for faculty and staff new to the institution or research, as well as more seasoned individuals. Training opportunity examples include the basics of clinical research, institutional policy and procedure training, audit preparation, developing sponsor relationships, and facilitating disease indication training for non-clinical staff.

Minimum Hiring Standards

BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
-5 years minimum experience in area of research specialty.
-Demonstrated understanding of the general roles and responsibilities of the key players on a typical clinical research team
-Understanding of FDA, ICH GCP, and applicable federal regulations related to human subject clinical research, IRB requirements, and clinical research best practice.
-Proficient with all MS Office applications E-xceptional analytical and organizational skills and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures.
-Excellent meeting management, group facilitation, presentation and customer service skills.
-Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills with ability to synthesize aggregate data into meaningful operational metric and benchmarking reports
-Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
-Demonstrated decision making, creative problem solving, conflict resolution, and team building skills
-Prior experience developing and delivering presentations and training programs
-Demonstrated ability to work well in a demanding, fast paced, sometimes ambiguous environment with exceptional skill for managing competing priorities
-Proven ability to effectively problem-solve using critical thinking skills and develop realistic solutions and recommendations. -—Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
-Demonstrated work ethic and professional practice based on developing and maintaining collaborative, positive and effective working relationships across multiple functional groups
-Ability to provide own transportation to attend meetings, audits, compliance, quality assurance and other training development and delivery related activities within the Massey Cancer Center and Statewide Network Affiliate service area
-Prior experience working with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidance documents and Working Guidelines (WGs) and routine revisions.

Preferred Hiring Standards

-Experience working in oncology therapeutic research and proven experience in developing effective training and education programs.
-10 years experience in clinical research.
- ACRP /SoCRA (or equivalent) certification
