Job Description:

The Academic Advisor/Life Skills Coach, TRIO-Student Support Services is responsible for student assessment, eligibility, orientation, advisement, counseling, graduation and transfer functions; develop and conduct workshops, maintain transfer resources, and arrange visits to four-year institutions, multicultural training experiences, and cultural events; and supply information for reports and assist in compiling them to demonstrate effectiveness. The Academic Advisor/Life Skills Coach, TRIO-Student Support Services will represent the program at necessary functions, meetings, and conferences; assist students with enrollment processes in programs and courses during registration periods; administer interest, aptitude, and career related tests as needed; assign peer coaches for students, as appropriate; and assist in communicating with upper level colleges and universities. This position reports to the Director, TRIO-Student Support Services. This is a Grant-funded position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in counseling or related area, and two years’ experience in higher education, including experience in career counseling, academic advising, or financial aid counseling are required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

SALARY: $34,730.00.
