Postdoctoral Associate, Pharmaceutical Sciences

Job Details

Position Summary

The postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Sukyung Woo will be involved in multidisciplinary, collaborative projects investigating mechanisms underlying drug resistance and metastasis in tumor microenvironment and developing anticancer therapeutic strategies. We are particularly interested in therapeutic strategies to modulate target genes or proteins, including siRNA and PROTAC . This position requires performing experimental studies using in vitro and in vivo systems to describe and predict pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic responses of the therapeutics as single agents or in combination with chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, with the aim of facilitating translational research and drug development in oncology. The Woo laboratory utilizes a computational mathematical modeling approach combined with experimental data to integrate in vitro and in vivo information and to facilitate preclinical-to-clinical translation.

Position responsibilities:
• Evaluate dose-response relationships using cell lines and preclinical animal models
• Perform experiments related to basic molecular/cell biology
• Develop and perform in vitro assays to quantify therapy-induced responses
• Generate genetically-modified cell lines to elucidate molecular mechanisms
• Write scientific manuscripts, reports and research proposals
• Present scientific findings to national meetings.

Good communication/organization skills with the ability to work in collaborative environment are essential. Familiarity or prior hands-on experience in experimental techniques such as molecular and cellular biology, tissue culture, and antitumor activity evaluation in rodents is highly desired. The successful candidate will acquire experience in animal-to-human translational research, including early phase clinical trials. Individuals who want to expand their knowledge into pharmaceutical sciences, computational modeling, and quantitative systems pharmacology to depict and predict responses of solid tumors to anticancer agents are highly encouraged to apply.
