Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre – Scenic and Lighting
Design
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Wilkes University invites applicants for a one-year Visiting
Assistant Professor of Theatre
position in Scenic and Lighting Design, with possible contract
renewal.
This position, in the Division of Performing Arts will begin the
fall of 2021. The Division of
Performing Arts offers a BFA in Musical Theatre, a BA in Theatre
Arts, and a recently-created
BA in Theatre Design and Technology, as well as minors in Theatre,
Music, and Dance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: teaching courses
in scenic design, scenic
painting and lighting design; creating scenic and lighting designs
for the four annual mainstage
theatre productions; creating lighting designs for dance
performances, music ensemble
performances, and other University events; advising and recruiting
students; overseeing the
painting of sets for theatre productions; managing the props for
the theatre productions;
engaging in scholarly and creative activities; and participating in
university service.
Successful candidates will have an MFA, design experience in both
professional and university
settings, and experience teaching design at the university level.
Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
