Assistant Professor of Nursing

Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Nursing to begin August 2021. This position will primarily teach psychiatric/mental health courses at the graduate level, with undergraduate instruction, if needed. Teaching efforts must demonstrate activities that encourage interaction with other students, faculty, the university, and/or the community, and support student success and learning in the classroom and clinical setting. The successful candidate must have a record of continuous professional development and engage in scholarly activities such as research, publishing, and presenting. Service to the University through committee work and participation in special projects and activities, service to students through academic and career guidance and participation in and support of student activities, and service to the community through activities utilizing professional knowledge and expertise, are expected of this position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a doctorate degree in Nursing conferred by the date of hire (August 10, 2021).  Applicants must also have an unencumbered RN license in the state of Louisiana and certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). 

Minimum of two years of clinical experience as an RN.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior teaching experience and at least 1-year of clinical practice as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Proficient computer skills (i.e., word processing, presentation software, spreadsheets, etc.). Effective interpersonal communication skills.
