Responsible for the design, delivery, and/or evaluation of training and education programs of a highly technical or complex nature.
ResponsibilitiesThis position will be responsible for the design, delivery, and/or evaluation of training and education programs of a highly technical or complex nature. Collaborates with staff in the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and the Center for eLearning. Assists faculty subject matter experts (SMEs) who teach online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses through trainings, consultations, helpdesk requests, and facilitating other professional development programming. Researches and applies best practices for faculty development, educational technology such as the learning management system, and teaching in multiple modalities.
Typical Allocation of Duties:
Design and develop training courses -
40%
Conducts needs assessments, designs and develops appropriate
classroom and/or technology-based training courses to meet
organization and individual needs. May assist other instructors or
subject-matter-experts in the selection of pedagogy and design of
course materials.
Develops training materials - 25%
Develops and designs training materials including, but not limited
to, instructional guides, job aids, web simulations, and other
learner materials to assist in the transfer of knowledge, skills,
and abilities.
Evaluation - 20%
Evaluates the effectiveness of training and teaching materials to
ensure objectives are accomplished.
Research - 15%
Interviews subject matter experts or conducts other research to
develop instructional content or recommend new pedagogical
methodologies.
Supervisor Expectations:
- Ability to work in a university setting and interact professionally with faculty and students.
- Use learning management systems (e.g. D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard) for instructional and course development.
- Knowledge and application of pedagogical strategies, research in teaching and learning, and technologies for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses and curriculum.
- Use the following educational technologies and tools: Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, Microsoft Teams, Kaltura, Qualtrics, Turnitin, ePortfolio, etc.
- Provide pedagogical development for faculty
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree and over five (5) years of related work
experience.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).
Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
