General summary/purpose:

The Assessment & Evaluation Analyst oversees implementation of third-party evaluation studies in education; collects, cleans, and analyzes quantitative data using programming software (e.g. Stata, R); interprets results from data analyses; and communicates results with external stakeholders. This individual will write technical reports, journal-quality papers, and proposals. Typical studies involve both quantitative and qualitative data collection. Some travel to K-12 schools to conduct interviews and observations with principals, teachers, and parents will be necessary.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations for various projects, collaborate directly with the project PI, and communicate regularly regarding project status
  • Manage client communications and communicate directly with districts and organizations to collect necessary data
  • Clean and analyze data using statistics and programming package (e.g. Stata, R)
  • Develop Statements of Work (SOWs) and methodologies for data collection and analyses
  • Oversee development of manuals, questionnaires, and coding structures to ensure the accurate and efficient collection of data
  • Oversee study design and analysis of data
  • Participate with the team and clients in planning follow-up studies and dissemination of results of completed studies
  • Prepare and write detailed reports to clients and sponsors compiling and summarizing findings, and make recommendations for program improvements, policies, and follow-up research
  • Write proposals for independent program evaluations by Center for Research & Reform in Education (CRRE) in response to RFPs or sole-source requests from potential sponsors

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

  • Master’s degree in statistics or from an education program with a strong emphasis in statistics.
  • Six years experience as a quantitative researcher on applied research projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Statistics or from an education program with a strong emphasis in statistics and quantitative research methods

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience and skills in communicating with principals, teachers, and parents is necessary
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience conducting quantitative data analysis
  • Experience working on research projects

Technical qualifications or specialized certifications:

  • Experience with programming software (e.g., Stata, R)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
