Building Maintenance Department: Building & Grounds Location: Washington, DC
Position Start Date: Immediately

Sidwell Friends, a coeducational, PK-12 Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks a full-time Maintenance Worker. The position is based on our D.C. campus but will also be required to be present on our Bethesda, MD campus a few days throughout the week. This position also requires some evening and weekend work. The Maintenance Worker will assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the physical plant of the school campuses and to be available for school programs that require the support of the Facilities team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for general maintenance duties, which includes but are not limited to, repairs, light construction, assembly of new items purchased, custodial, lamp replacement, grounds work, furniture moves, mechanical upkeep and painting. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for pick-ups and deliveries and equipment maintenance.

Other duties include but are not limited to helping with snow removal, shelving, play/theater props, physical education equipment, assisting with periodic safety drills, etc. The ideal candidate will also make preparations for the many events held on the campus, including set up and break downs.

Must have at least 2 years of general maintenance 'handy-man" experience. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience with handling basic maintenance projects, using basic MS Office suite software and operating vehicles and motorized equipment. Ability to work within a team with a strong customer service orientation and relationship building is required. Should have a working knowledge and familiarity with hand tools and the specialized tools used in the building trades. Knowledge of regulations and basic safety procedures for working with chemical, moving parts, cutting tools and ladders is required.

This 12-month, non-exempt full-time position is benefits eligible.
