REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Military and Veterans Services
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides information on VA/Military education benefit certification in conjunction with College enrollment procedures to new and returning military-affiliated students.
- Assists military-affiliated students with school and military benefit applications, including the certification of education benefits within the VA’s system, VA-ONCE.
- Assists Veteran Services with retention efforts, Academic Advising of military-affiliated students, and the coordination of tutoring and support services with College student services departments.
- Liaisons with Veteran/Military Service Organizations to identify services beneficial to students and assists with necessary referrals.
- Assists with coordinating the Center’s VA Work/Study program and the College’s Veterans and Service Members Association.
- Represents the College at recruitment and other public events.
- Provides staffing to both the Veterans Services Center and the Veterans Study Lounge.
- Answers phones and reply to information request e-mails.
- Ensures student files are correctly structured and that the file room and cabinets are organized.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong communication skills
- Computer skills and knowledge of databases
- Customer service skills and experience
- Ability to adapt to a flexible work environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current/Prior Military experience
- Prior Higher Education experience
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
