General Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The General Maintenance Technician performs a variety of general maintenance and repairs to ensure all university buildings and grounds remain in good physical condition. Job duties include: using a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, heating and cooling, concrete finishing, welding, and related trades to preform work involving maintenance of grounds and structures, drywall installation and repair, installing or repairing interior ceilings and floor coverings, repairing and installing plumbing fixtures, operating a power drain opening cable machine, using gasoline or diesel power equipment such as forklift, skid loader, dump trucks, zero turn mowers, weed eaters, and chainsaws to complete projects, and assists with snow removal, special events, set-up and tear down.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED ; one-year post-secondary trade school or vocational in one or more of the listed trades; or three years’ experience directly related to one or more of the listed trades.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in HVAC Universal, experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System, and a Commercial Driver’s License.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds.
