Associate Vice President for Human Resources Client Services

Stanford University

Stanford University, recognized as one of the most prestigious and innovative academic and research institutions in the world, seeks an experienced, strategic, and innovative leader with strong HRIS implementation skills to serve as the next Associate Vice President for Human Resources Client Services (AVP). This leader must be able to develop and execute strategic plans for the future of HR Client Services at Stanford as the institution looks to replace its HRIS and improve its technological ecosystem over the next few years. This individual will play an important role in moving forward the operational and analytical functions of HR Client Services in order to better serve its users and the University’s overall goals.

The AVP will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee HR operations activities for the University, ensuring the development and implementation of leading-edge systems and efficient and cost-effective operations to meet the current and future needs of Stanford. The AVP will partner with leaders across the University to identify opportunities to advance systems and analytics, streamline processes, and improve overall operations. As Stanford looks to replace its HRIS within the next few years, the AVP will work to develop and execute the successful implementation of a new system, while also prioritizing key short-term projects to create efficiencies and better the user experience within the current technological ecosystem. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative and understand the complexities of a decentralized environment, while being attentive to the various needs of each business unit at the institution. The AVP will work to convert complex, customized processes into standardized processes that crystallize the future vision of HR operations at Stanford, gaining buy-in from others at the institution throughout this transformation. The AVP will have a keen eye for industry standards and market trends in order to keep Stanford at the forefront of HR excellence.

The AVP reports directly to the Vice President of University Human Resources (UHR), Elizabeth Zacharias, and will supervise three direct reports and manage approximately 50 employees. The portfolio for this role encompasses the University's core HR and talent management systems, analytics and operational reporting, program operations, and project management.
