Position Summary:
This position provides academic services for all student-athletes through the Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS) office in Academic Support Programs. The position reports to the Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Support Services/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). Duties include academic counseling and academic progress monitoring, assisting the Associate Athletic Director in monitoring continuing eligibility, enrollment assistance and monitoring, orientation for new student-athletes, summer bridge, international orientation, meeting with prospective student-athletes on recruiting visits, mentoring student-athletes who present academic risk factors, supervising the tutoring program and graduate assistant. The incumbent maintains close liaison with UI athletic administrators, coaching staffs, faculty, and campus academic support areas and serves as a member of the administrative staff.


Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in communication, education, psychology, sport management or a related degree program.
• Two years of experience working in a higher education setting.
• Experience in providing academic support to student-athletes.
• Experience with coordinating programs and activities.
• Experience interacting successfully with student-athletes, faculty, and coaching staffs.
• Experience leading others in program related activities and to communicate effectively.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, Athletic Administration, or other related area.
• Experience in an academic support unit for student-athletes, preferable at the NCAA Division I level.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Strong public relations, organizational, and program management skills.
• Knowledge/experience in computerized student records; familiarity with spreadsheets.
• Strong administrative skills in initiating and implementing programs; skills in personnel management.
• Ability to multi-task and work under tight timelines.
• Demonstrated integrity.
• N4A membership.
