Position Summary:

The Accountant is responsible for performing complex accounting duties, preparing financial and statistical reports, delivering training to others, developing and managing complex budgets, documenting controls for accounting systems to ensure the accurate recording and reporting of the department's financial transactions, and serving as a resource for team members in Ob/Gyn.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Required Education:
- Associate Degree.

Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field such as business or finance.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required Experience:
- Experience working with complex automated accounting systems, software and processes, including database and query.

Preferred Experience:
- Two (2) years of relevant accounting experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge with the principles of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal award management.

Desired Attributes:
- Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and requirements.
- Ability to advise department leaders, as well as faculty and staff on policy, procedure, and technical applications related to department budgetary, compensation and other financial concerns.
- Professional and effective written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed abilities in the following: tact, judgment, resourcefulness, confidentiality, and independent analysis and decision-making.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.

Prefix assignment determined by years of relevant work experience.

License or Certificate:

Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant preferred.
