Position Summary:

This position provides desktop support services to end-users for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS). The primary customers are CALS administrative staff located in Ag Hall. This position also supports staff in several locations around the UW-Madison campus. In addition, support is also provided to staff located at the Agricultural Research Stations located across the state. This position will work alongside other colleagues with responsibilities including daily support of end-user devices, consulting with staff on computing technology solutions, and endpoint deployment and lifecycle replacement. The environment includes a combination of PC and Mac operating systems.

The person in this position must be dedicated to providing excellent customer service, work cohesively with other CALS and campus IT staff, and support the mission and goals of the CALS IT office.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's Degree required, Computer Sciences or related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Previous experience providing computing support and assistance, ideally in a higher education environment.
-Knowledge and experience supporting Windows and macOS platforms are required.
-Knowledge of Windows Active Directory, networking technologies, IT security, and endpoint management tools is highly preferred.
-In addition, candidates must possess strong organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

License or Certificate:

-A valid Wisconsin driver's license is required to provide occasional onsite IT support at remote customer locations across the state.

Additional Information:

This position is under the supervision of the IT Manager of the Office of CALS Information Technology (CALS IT) in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS). The person in this position will work as part of a team of IT professionals in the Office of CALS Information Technology to provide college and campus customers with IT services.

Additional Knowledge and Skills
-Proven ability to provide excellent, customer-focused technology support, assistance, and training.
-Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills, including an ability to communicate technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical competencies.
-Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to work under deadline pressures.
-Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative work environment.
-Experience with standard technology support practices, including ticket tracking applications and concepts, change management best practices, and asset management systems.
-Ability to lift 25 lbs.

A period of evaluation will be required. A criminal background check will be required.
