General Summary/Purpose:

Research Program Assistant will directly report to Dr. Marsh, the PI of the Marsh Lab. The Research Program Assistant will collect and/or organize study data through outreach, interviews and data entry.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the PI, collect and/or organize study data through outreach, interviews and data entry.
  • Note: Focus on carrying out the empirics of the protocol as written.
  • Recruit and screen study participants according to protocol eligibility criteria.
  • Review study protocol, and obtain informed consent from study participant.
  • Set up appointments for study participants as dictated by study.
  • Conduct routine research interviews.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures, e.g., take vital signs - blood pressure, height, weight.
  • Enter study data into database.
  • Run routine queries of the data.
  • The assistant will maintain study databases and under the direction of the PI be in charge of participant enrollment and data entry for research studies. He/she will works with students within the lab to help with ongoing projects. He/she will be responsible for scoring, organizing, and storing data. In addition, there will be the opportunity to take part in analysis and reporting of data for publication.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Some related experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some familiarity with cognitive testing and statistics preferred, but ability and willingness to learn is more important.
  • Familiarity with RedCap databases is preferred.
  • Some college courses preferred.
  • Prefer some related coursework or administrative experience.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
