Job Summary

Facilities Management's Distribution Services encourages applications for a Distribution Driver! This position serves as a CDL driver responsible for the delivery and/or pick-up of goods and materials, including hazardous materials, supporting the diverse needs of the campus community. The distribution driver supports the operational needs of Distribution Services which includes inventory, shipping, storage, and warehousing.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Distribution:

Safely and efficiently operate University delivery vehicles, adhering to all regulatory agency requirements for a CDL with a hazardous materials endorsement. Appropriately load trucks for transport, including restraining and balancing goods and materials. Document pickup and delivery of goods and materials using a handheld electronic device. Appropriately placard trucks carrying hazardous materials. Carry applicable hazardous materials documents in the truck. Perform pre-and post-trip inspections using the DOT inspection form. Inform supervisor of needed repairs to vehicles. Deliver vehicles to Transportation Services for repairs and maintenance. Maintain a clean vehicle by regularly cleaning the interior of the cab and sweeping out the box. Provide safety oversight and hazard analysis for all onsite activities.

Material Handling:

Load materials into trucks to be delivered and unload materials for storage. Stage storage items for delivery using a forklift, pallet jack and other material handling equipment. Put storage items in racks using a forklift and other material handling equipment under the direction of the supervisor. Provide material handling assistance by riding along with the senior driver as a helper as needed. Provide safety oversight and hazard analysis for all onsite activities.

Inventory Transactions:

Issue, and stage for delivering goods from the Distribution Center inventory (liquid nitrogen, and dry ice). Fill liquid nitrogen dewars from the fill station and stage for transport. Provide safety oversight and hazard analysis for all onsite activities.

Other Duties as Assigned:

Backup shipping/receiving area. Conduct deliveries in non-CDL vehicles such as for Facilities Management Stores. Operate plastic wrap baler. Sort pallets and move them to the pallet dumpster. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Provide safety oversight and hazard analysis for all onsite activities.

What You Should Know

Must be able to obtain a hazardous materials endorsement within 60 days of hire.

What We Require

  • Three years of experience operating a five-ton GVW truck or larger.
  • Must possess a valid State of Colorado commercial driver’s license class B and be able to obtain a hazardous materials endorsement within 60 days of hire.


What We Would Like You To Have

  • Familiar with CU Boulder campus.
  • Experience delivering gasses, liquid nitrogen, and other hazardous materials.
