Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

Virginia Commonwealth University ( VCU ) and the College of Humanities and Sciences ( CHS ) are focused on equality and believe deeply in diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin, and other characteristics. With the support of the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, the Recruitment Coordinator will develop and implement recruitment strategies for all undergraduate populations. This position supports ambitious university enrollment goals of building talented and diverse incoming classes by actively recruiting, admitting, and enrolling students. Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs, the Recruitment Coordinator will:
•Develop and implement recruitment strategies for all undergraduate populations in alignment with college enrollment goals
•Develop and coordinate outreach and recruitment programs, events, activities, and initiatives to support all university-level and college-level recruitment goals
•Serve as a point of contact for visitors and questions from prospective students and families
•Establish strategic partnerships with both internal and external partners, organizations, community groups, K-12, and community college education entities
•Serve as a representative at university prospective student visit events both on and off-campus
•Serve as a point of contact for Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success
•Publicize and promote programs, events, activities, and initiatives using a variety of methods including the development of promotional materials
•Provide leadership and oversight for current VCU student participation in prospective student recruitment, including interviews, selection, training, and professional development
•Generate reports on prospective student data and manage statistics to use in tracking enrollment
•Occasional evening and weekend hours required

Minimum Hiring Standards

•Bachelor’s Degree or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience;
•Program and event planning and administration experience;
•Student Recruitment experience;
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
•Familiarity with undergraduate admissions and enrollment;
•Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently;
•Dedicated to providing excellent service;
•Organized with exceptional time management skills;
•Creative, hardworking, and detail-oriented;
•Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or the commitment to do so at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

•Understanding of degrees/programs offered in colleges like CHS ;
•Knowledge of admissions processes;
•Master’s degree.
