Specialist - Grounds - Sports Field

Summary:
Do you love working outdoors? Landscaping? Gardening? Making things beautiful?

The grounds department is seeking a full time specialist who is responsible for the daily maintenance of the sports fields, including, but not limited to: planting, transplanting, pruning of trees, shrubs and other plants.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation with high school diploma and one year related experience or any combination of job related experience and education totaling one year.

Requires a valid drivers license.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of sports field maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of landscape, planting, pruning, mowing, aeration, grooming, and raking.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work fluctuating shifts to accommodate game play.


Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associates degree and two years related experience; OR, any combination of education or experience related to the summary of duties totaling four years.


Physical Requirements:
Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work: heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work will involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
