The role

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the College of Education as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Educational Assessment and Education Studies. Appointment to the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer is dependent on academic achievement, skills and experience.

In this role, you will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students, undertake research and provide leadership for psychometrics in the Educational Assessment Research Unit. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting educational research design, instrument development, and quantitative data analysis.
  • Developing and providing oversight of systems for coding and compilation of data sets collected from large national samples of students, teachers and principals.
  • Contributing to the communication of key findings as well as providing quality control checks for NMSSA research.
  • Teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Supervising postgraduate students.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this key role you will have:

  • A doctoral degree.
  • Broad understanding of current issues in education particularly in relation to New Zealand curriculum.
  • Experience in assessment, and understanding of how assessment relates to education policy and practice.
  • Experience in psychometrics and large project data management.
  • Experience in tertiary teaching and post-graduate supervision.
  • Commitment to New Zealand education.
  • Commitment to Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
