JCTC has an opening for a Chief Academic Officer – Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Vice President of Academic Affairs will report directly to the President/CEO and is a key member of the JCTC Executive Leadership team.


The Vice President of Academic Affairs will provide collaborative senior leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the credit and non-credit instructional programs, academic support services and personnel which advance the vision, values, and mission of the college. The Vice President facilitates innovative, effective, and efficient academic processes and procedures that foster student learning outcomes and success across the college as part of the senior leadership team. In collaboration with the academic leadership team and personnel in other units of the college, the Vice President provides overall leadership and oversight of credit and non-credit instruction including academic divisions, off-campus and extended campus programs/classes, dual credit, transfer and technical programs, distance learning, and Workforce Solutions.

Collaborative leadership responsibilities include:

  • Program/curriculum development, innovation, and review with equal emphasis on transfer and technical areas.
  • In collaboration with other units, provides oversight of the preparation and evaluation of the schedule of classes that address student and community needs and meets or exceeds budget goals.
  • Develops a comprehensive system of recruitment, orientation, mentoring, professional development and evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty and academic support staff including library and information services with an emphasis on the development of a diverse, multi-cultural employee base that represent the student body and our community.
  • Identifies the financial and physical resources necessary to advance Academic Affairs and monitor the use of such resources for the overall health of the college.
  • Collaborative leadership with other units of the college including Corporate College that increases student success and community development.
  • Ensures full compliance at all times with all regional and program accreditation standards pertaining to the academic and technical programs of the college.
  • Collaborative leadership with the faculty, Faculty Council, and program committees to effect positive communication and working relationships that enhance student learning, instructional effectiveness, innovation and departmental morale and leadership.
As a member of the college's senior leadership team, the Vice President's responsibilities include:

  • Modeling leadership behavior that is consistent with the college's values
  • Active participation in the development and implementation of the college's strategic plan and Quality Enhancement Plan and SACS accreditation standards
  • Policy and procedure development at the college and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System {KCTCS) levels
  • Participation and leadership within KCTCS, the region's colleges and universities and the wider education community
  • Involvement in the life of the college community through participation and presence in a wide variety of activities


Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in higher education, administration, or related field and a minimum of five years of experience in progressively responsible academic leadership positions, or equivalent.

  • Appreciation and ability to use transparent data-driven decision-making and information sharing
  • Commitment and experience with entrepreneurial and innovative strategy development and implementation related to learning and program delivery
  • Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Significant leadership experience in postsecondary education, particularly within the community and technical college sector, is highly desired
  • Postsecondary education teaching experience highly desired

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
