The Department of Biological Sciences at NDSU is accepting applications for two visiting assistant professors. These will be nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level to begin fall 2021. We are seeking candidates who have experience teaching using active learning and learner-centered approaches. Candidates must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in a discipline appropriate to the biological sciences and relevant teaching experience. ABD may be considered depending on experience. Successful candidates will be expected to teach two courses per semester at the undergraduate level. Specific courses taught will be determined based on faculty expertise and experience, as well as the needs of the department. The position is 100 % teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have: 1) completed a Ph.D. from an accredited
institution in a discipline appropriate to the biological sciences;
2) relevant teaching experience as an instructor of record; 3)
evidence of a commitment to teaching and student learning at the
undergraduate level; 5) ability to interact and collaborate
effectively with a diversity of colleagues and students.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with 1) documented
experience teaching multiple types of courses; 2) documented
evidence or commitment to active learning techniques; 3) use of
teaching in a scale-up classroom setting or other active learning
oriented classrooms; 4) experience in teaching both undergraduate
and graduate courses; 5) a strong commitment to equity and
inclusion in the classroom; and 6) a commitment to
diversity.
