The Digital Content Marketing Specialist is responsible for writing, editing, and updating digital information to support recruitment, retention, and brand awareness efforts. Will manage social media accounts to relay important information to stakeholders. Strong contributor to developing marketing strategies to engage audiences to ensure that they have a positive view of the University College products, services, and reputation. Use information, such as metrics and statistics about the target customers’ demographics and preferences to create multimedia content that raises brand awareness. Develop email communications to various audiences as guided by communications calendars built around specific target audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Experience in higher education or communications and marketing preferred.

Job Specific Qualifications

• Understanding of content marketing tactics, such as SEO, digital advertising, and social media marketing.

• Strong Google Analytics skills.

• Knowledge of SEO best practices to write creative copy that includes effective keyword placement.

• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience with social media management, engagement strategies and best practices.

• Strong skills in creating original content that targets a specific audience.

• Basic technical knowledge of MS Office and WordPress.

• Three (3) plus years of experience in Communications/Marketing.

• Skilled in multitasking and highly detail-oriented.

• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products, most importantly Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.

Responsibilities

Content Creation:
• Create and publish audience-specific short form content to engage current stakeholders, attract new students/pipelines and enhance visibility of University College efforts and outcomes.
• Develop content strategy aligned with short-term and long-term marketing targets and business goals.
• Craft platform-specific content for distribution to online channels and social media platforms to increase web traffic.
• Monitor content outcomes using Google Analytics and email analytics.
• Assist in creation of marketing-related photography and video content.

Social Media Management:
• Manage University College’s day-to-day social media marketing to promote programs, offerings, student stories, support services, etc.
• Responsible for creating, improving, posting and maintaining social content to support enrollment and retention goals and to raise brand awareness.
• Monitor web traffic and metrics to identify and implement best practices.
• Perform research on current trends as well as audience platform and content preferences.
• Leverage analytic tools to provide reporting and insights, track and improve metrics, and influence strategy.
• Participate in campaign planning and reviews with external partners.

Communications Calendar Maintenance and Implementation:
• Assist in creating and implementing communications calendar for University College affiliated programs.
• Assist in creating communications plan for identified audience channels.

Develop Marketing Supportive Imagery/Products:
• Use software to create visuals and collateral to support marketing efforts.
• Review materials to ensure alignment to Syracuse University brand guidelines.

Accessibility Adherence:
• Ensure accessibility in marketing deliverables across platforms.

Collaboration with the Division of Marketing and Communications:
• Follow established university brand standards, governance, and approaches.
• Work with the University’s editorial calendar.
• Coordinate content with the Division of Marketing and Communications’ content strategy team and develop content consistent with University brand approach.
• Support the Division of Marketing and Communication’s media relations team’s earned media strategy specific to University College, identify newsworthy pitch angles, liaise to schedule interviews, and bring opportunities to completion.
• Create and share stories about University College and the accomplishments of faculty, students and alumni worldwide in coordination with Marketing and Communications Content and Communications teams.
• Collaborate with Syracuse University’s Division of Marketing and Communications to advance the marketing and communications University wide goals.
