The Library Systems and Discovery Coordinator position plays a key role in the discovery services of the library, working closely with library employees and the university community to design library tools that aid access to information resources and library services. This position provides leadership in designing and maintaining the library’s web platforms, digital collections, and digital infrastructure. It is expected that the Library Systems and Discovery Coordinator actively engage in shared governance.

Education & Formal Training Master's degree (Specify field(s) of study below) Other Education & Formal Training

Master’s degree from an ALA -accredited program in library/information science or equivalent information management graduate degree.

Computer Skills Experience

Required:
-Knowledge of Integrated Library System ( ILS ) or equivalent systems.
-Experience designing and maintaining websites.
-Demonstrated understanding and use of HTML and CSS .
-Demonstrated experimentation in coding and troubleshooting unique programming issues.

Preferred:
-Experience providing training and instruction for digital tools.

Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal, Human Relations/Interpersonal skills, Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines, Maintain confidentiality Other Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge

Preferred:
-Understanding of Javascript and server-side programming languages (e.g. PHP, Ruby).
-Ability to design and utilize data structures such as SQL databases and JSON .
-Knowledge of metadata standards such as RDA, MARC, and Dublin Core.
-Understanding of web usability studies and user experience.
