Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Arizona campus is hiring a Billing Specialist/Insurance Coordinator to join the Wellness Center team. Embry-Riddle's Prescott Campus is respected worldwide for cutting-edge instruction and training for tomorrow’s aviation, aerospace, security and intelligence leaders. Prescott is a mile-high city and its climate reflects seasonable weather excellent for flying. Daytime averages are 80°F in the summer and 45°F in the winter. At 5,000 ft. above sea level, it boasts a mild climate, clean air, pristine wilderness areas, and nearby national forests. The university is a small, private, residential university in the mountains of Arizona with approximately 3,500 students. Staff/faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of our campus. It is located 100 miles north of Phoenix and 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon.

Job Summary:

Responsible for Pyramed Management and training staff. Insurance biller for United Health Care direct bill and Pyramed billing specialist for private insurance. Gather insurance information and claims for Pyramed billing team an upload in Pyramed. Checks mailed direct from insurance company must be deposited weekly. Responsible for monthly budget for the Wellness Center. Must balance and stay on top of discrepancies, which are reported to Director immediately. Responsible for purchase requisitions for contracted staff and other purchases made throughout the school year. Responsible for waivers each semester and balancing a bill sent from United Health Care with Assistant Bursar in the Business office. Monitors international student waivers for appropriate coverage. All private insurance billing is sent to the billing service through Pyramed for collection. Assist in testing clinics and vaccination clinics throughout the year in the Wellness Center. Serve as backup coverage for front office person during vacations and breaks. Assist with phone calls when needed. Also responsible for doing presentations for various departments on campus for orientation and insurance information.

Job Functions:

  • I nput superbill forms into system on daily basis for UHC and private insurance companies. Reconcile student insurance charges at the beginning of each semester with assistant bursar. Must have strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding as related to health care in college setting. Knowledge of health insurance requirements as it pertains to domestic and international students in a college setting.

  • Budget management, monthly and annual distribution of funds. Reconcile monthly and submit report to Dean of Students office, Budget office and Director. Purchase Requisitions at the beginning of the fiscal year and sporadically throughout the year as needed.

  • Pyramed software management. Responsible for setting schedules in system, uploading insurance coverage information, sending private insurance billing into billing team at Pyramed. Weekly deposit of checks.

  • W ork closely with various departments throughout the university such as international department, veterans department, athletic department to ensure students have health care coverage that meet the university minimal standards.

  • Back-up for front office as needed, answering phones, filing, pulling charts, checking students in and making appointments in Pyramed scheduling system. Be available for orientation weekend in August. Student Preview Day in April which is a Saturday.

  • Support the mission and goals of the Wellness Center within the division of Dean of Students by attending necessary meetings and presentations as directed by the Director of Wellness Center.

  • Responsible for all prior authorizations as needed.

  • Responsible for pharmacy inventory (inputting medication into system and removing expired medication) Run inventory reports to determine if medication has expired.

  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or completion of program of 18+ months after high school. Area of study: B usiness/Management.

  • Must be detail oriented and have computer skills.

  • ICD10 coding.

  • Billing knowledge.

  • Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications.
