Part Time Faculty - Theatre
The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions beginning with the 2021 fall semester to teach the following courses:
THEA-175abcd Student Performance Production Workshop
THEA-270abcd Beginning Theatre Production
THEA-274abcd Musical Theatre Production
Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College's mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services. Some assignments may include dual-enrollment courses offered offsite on high school campuses.
M aster's degree in drama, theatre arts, performance; OR
The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above ; OR
Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject (per California Education Code 87355 issued prior to July 1, 2990); AND
Sensitivity to and understanding of a broad range of disabilities and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Demonstrated ability and experience as a director with specialization in either dramatic or musical theatre productions.
Demonstrated ability to coach actors or voice articulation, pronunciation and language.
College level teaching experience preferred.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time teaching assignment(s) for the 2021 fall semester, beginning August 28, 2021. Teaching assignments may include off-site locations. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit Certification of Completion of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security card upon hire.
Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $89.92 - $108.33 (lecture and extensive labs), $68.15 - $82.09 (lab) per hour depending on education and experience.
