The Laboratory and Research Technician is responsible for careful conduct and analysis of: (1) patch clamp experiments in primary culture of adult ventricular myocytes and heterologous expression systems (e.g. COS -7 cells), and (2) imaging experiments of fixed or live cells using confocal and TIRF microscopy. Preparation of media and solutions, autoclaving of lab ware, lab inventory maintenance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s in biology or a biomedical science.
Willingness and ability to learn new experimental techniques with proper training and supervision by PI then being able to carry out these experiments
satisfactorily and in a timely manner.
Ability to work in a diverse environment.
Employee must have ability to think on his/her own and detect potential problems during the course of experiments, so that he/she can discuss and troubleshoot with supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a laboratory handling small animal cultured cell systems.
