Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Cinema program is establishing a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions in the Cinema Summer courses, 390 & 490.

This pool of applicants could be drawn upon to provide temporary staffing when needed; to provide special
teaching expertise when needed; and/or to meet special programmatic needs not otherwise
provided for within the program. The applicant pool will remain active until the listed closing
date of the job posting.
Given these criteria, this pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises. Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Cinema Program. If an adjunct opportunity arises, only those selected
for an interview will be contacted.
Adjunct faculty are expected to be thoughtful and proactive members of the filmmaking community and have a desire to work with a diverse student population in a collaborative,
inclusive and learning-centered collective.

Required Qualifications

The selected applicant will have demonstrated on-set and filmmaking experience on both large-scale film sets and smaller projects. They will be familiar with the practices and protocols of major motion pictures.

They will be able to problem-solve in both the professional and academic environment.

Applicants must possess ability to mentor students in one of the following areas:
Storytelling, Directing, Cinematography, Camera

Preferred Qualifications

-Recognition of Prior work.

-Previous mentorship experience, whether in a professional or apprenticeship or institutional context.
