Job Description:

The Student Information and Campus Administrative Systems (SICAS) Center at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for multiple positions as Remote IT Support Senior Programmer/Analyst. Expectations include providing remote programming support for up to three campuses using Ellucian's Oracle-based administrative system, Banner and degree planning system Degree Works. The SICAS Remote IT Support program is designed to supplement campus-based IT staff. This service is meant to help campuses maintain their Banner and/or Degree Works environments. This program is designed to be an augmentation to the campus programming staff. Each campus is expected to maintain their own programming staff. SICAS is a SUNY-wide program organized to provide software enhancements, technical support, best practices, and training for Ellucian's Banner software system to member campuses including SUNY state operated and community college campuses and several associate member campuses made up of private colleges and universities in New York State. SICAS also serves as the program management for the university-wide deployment of Degree Works. The Center is located on its host campus, SUNY Oneonta. Duties include but not limited to: providing remote programming support for up to three campuses. Work to be performed includes, but is not limited to, third party interfaces, report writing, extracting/importing data from and to Banner, Report writing, Banner integration with Learning Management Systems and supporting a campus's local programming staff. Candidates with the appropriate skills would support Degree Works through the Scribe tool and/or other technical areas and provide support for the Evisions tool ARGOS. The candidates will also be responsible for documenting work and performing a knowledge transfer to each institution as well as to other members of the SICAS team. A senior programmer/analyst is expected to manage medium and larger-scale initiatives independently, with limited supervision; and being responsible for developing design specifications according to business requirements, programming, performing thorough testing of systems to comply with quality assurance standards, and providing technical leadership and mentoring to other programmers.


Required Qualifications: bachelor's degree, minimum of four years of full-time professional experience in software development.

Preferred: demonstrated experience supporting Ellucian's Banner software or other higher education enterprise software, SICAS Modified Banner preferred; knowledge of Unix/Linux; experience supporting or developing solutions in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL; experience supporting Degree Works; experience with the Degree Works Scribe tool; experience in developing web applications using Java; experience building data blocks and/or report writing with ARGOS; experience with Agile Scrum and/or DevOps methodologies; ability to communicate clearly and experience giving technical presentations and/or training; ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications; experience working with and serving diverse populations.
