Department Summary
The mission of the Office of Human Resources is to strategically partner with the university community as a comprehensive, innovative, and results-oriented department modeled on the very best human resources practices. We deliver a variety of services and programs, which underscore a commitment to inclusiveness, respect, fairness, effective service delivery, and accountability. We strive to be proactive, consultative partners meeting the needs of employees and operations across the institution and to lead efforts to attract, retain, develop, and engage world-class faculty and staff.

The HR Programs and Services unit manages the university's benefits, medical leaves, work-life, HR compliance, learning and development, and recognition programs for all employees. The unit provides HR support services to the campus community through the HR Service Center, and is responsible for generating and distributing HR communications to all university employees. The unit develops and maintains HR programs in collaboration with campus stakeholders to support university leadership and institutional priorities.

HR Programs & Services is a unit within Human Resources in the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Position Summary
The Learning & Development Coordinator reports to the Learning & Development Manager in the Programs and Services unit within University Human Resources.

The person in this position will serve as a member of the Human Resources Learning & Development team with typical responsibilities including: coordination, facilitation, and administration of compliance and general in-person and virtual training, support the management of the online training catalog and Learning & Development website, managing relationships with and providing customer service to employees, affiliate trainers, and course administrators, and preparing reports related to learning and development activities.

This position demands a firm commitment to serving the University with sensitivity and professionalism. This position assists and acts in a confidential capacity to the employee and labor relations unit within human resources. The person in this position must support diversity and inclusion in every aspect and responsibility associated with the job. The ability to handle confidential material appropriately and maintain an institutional perspective is also critical.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and two years' professional work experience in human resources, professional development, training, or similar field. An additional year of relevant work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in designing and delivering training or curriculum in a variety of contexts.
  • Experience in the management, organization, and reporting of data.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to understand, summarize, and effectively present regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Demonstrated facilitation/presentation skills
  • Strong technical skills, including prior experience with databases and MS Excel.
  • Ability to manage confidential or sensitive information and issues responsibly.
  • Ability to work and solve problems independently as well as in a collaborative team environment and represent the university in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
  • A commitment to and experience with promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an institution of higher education or the public sector.
  • Experience with learning management systems.
  • Experience with Title IX or similar higher education statutory framework, compliance, and training, including prohibited discrimination and retaliation.
  • Familiarity with university organizational structure, policy, and political issues in higher education.
