We foster the well-being of the diverse Mason community through psychological, learning, outreach, and consultation services. We provide high-quality training to emerging mental health professionals. About the Position:

The Coordinator, Multicultural Outreach and Prevention, will provide leadership in the ongoing development and implementation of culturally inclusive and innovative mental health outreach to meet the needs of our undergraduate and graduate students, with a focus on reaching historically marginalized students. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression, and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity in higher education and the workplace. This will be combined with a comprehensive understanding of intersectionality and the lived experiences of diverse students.

Responsibilities:

• Provide inclusive outreach and prevention programming to Mason faculty, staff and students with a special focus on serving historically marginalized students, including responding to campus requests and providing leadership and management to the unit’s outreach and prevention programming; 
• Provide oversight of outreach requests and assignment of outreach events to other staff members as needed;
• Provide clinical services including initial consultation, assessment, case management services, individual and group therapy as needed;
• Provide crisis assessment/intervention through daytime and after hours on-call systems, and provide consultation services to parents, faculty, staff, and students as needed;
• Participate in training activities such as leading Outreach Seminar for trainees, providing individual supervision, co-leading and supervising therapy groups, providing other related trainee seminars, and contributing to the trainee selection processes;
• Maintain current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and CAPS policies. Review client records to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered;
• Participate in internal unit committees and meetings, as well as University Life/and or University committees as assigned;
• Engage in continuing education and professional development to provide clinically sound and culturally appropriate services to a diverse student population;
• Additional duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude supervisor from assigning specific duties not listed above if such duties are a logical assignment to the position;
• The position may require working at least one evening per week.

Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. or Psy.D in Clinical or Counseling Psychology; or Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling;
• Current licensure in Virginia (or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire) as a psychologist, licensed social worker, or counselor;
• Experience with brief psychotherapy and group psychotherapy; 
• Evidence of cultural fluency and experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one year experience providing outreach to a diverse university campus community;
• At least two years of experience providing mental health services to college students or late adolescents;
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting with clients presenting in acute distress;
• Experience providing clinical consultation with campus and/or key stakeholders; 
• Experience providing clinical supervision.
