Ohio Wesleyan University ( www.owu.edu ) is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus.

 

The Department of History seeks applicants for a one-year term position in Medieval and Early Modern Europe beginning August 18, 2020. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in medieval and Early Modern history. The Fall semester courses will be: Introduction to Medieval Europe at the 100 level, British History to 1688 at the 200 level, and Renaissance History at the 300 level. Spring semester courses will be determined once a candidate is hired, but will include a second offering of the introductory survey.  Information about the History department can be found at https://www.owu.edu/academics/departments-programs/department-of-history/  Additionally, OWU offers an interdisciplinary Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance Studies (AMRS) program. Applicants should have teaching experience, interest in working with undergraduate students, and an interest in participating in departmental events and in AMRS programs.  

 

This position is a full-time (3-3) teaching position, and includes all benefits and privileges of full-time faculty status. This includes fringe benefits and professional development funds.  Note that the initial appointment is for one year, but it is possible that this position will be extended for a second year. 

 

Responsibilities:  Teach 3 classes a semester as outlined above, participate in departmental and AMRS events and work with students to develop their interests and support their academic performance.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

PhD in History. Applicants should have teaching experience, interest in working with undergraduate students, and an interest in participating in departmental events and in AMRS programs.
