University of Arizona’s (UA) Global Office and the Department of Environmental Science (ENVS) have entered into an agreement with Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU) in Yangling, China to develop and offer a microcampus B.S. degree program in Environmental Science at NWAFU that began in September 2020.

This UA Global microcampus program will be delivered by six UA faculty “on the ground” at NWAFU in Yangling. The program includes 60 units of coursework taught by UA Faculty (in English), providing the core Environmental Science curriculum. The remaining ca. 105 units (prerequisites, general education classes, and elective courses) will be offered by NWAFU faculty. The program will lead to a joint UA- NWAFU degree, including a B.S. in Environmental Science from UA.

As one of the top universities in China, NWAFU is well equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms for teaching and research. It is located in Yangling, a beautiful town of 200,000 people, located 50 miles west of (and connected by high speed train to) the provincial capital city Xi’an, the oldest prefecture capital in China, and home to 12 million people.

We are currently recruiting for two Global Professors of Environmental Science, one focused on environmental biology and microbiology, and the other focused on environmental chemistry and pollutant behavior, at the NWAFU Microcampus B.S. program in Environmental Science in Yangling, China.  While the focus of these positions is on instruction, opportunities exist for developing research programs in collaboration with UA or NWAFU faculty.

Rank: non-tenure-eligible, 1.0 FTE Salary: Depending on experience.

Stipend includes one round trip per year to U.S.

Start Date: During Fall 2021 at UA, relocating to NWAFU in Spring 2022.
