The Office of Admissions at Iowa State University is
seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director
for Reporting and Project Management. This innovative position has
primary responsibility for making the Office of Admissions a "data
powerhouse", as prioritized in the established vision for the
department. The position requires a sharp creative thinker who can
learn data reporting and visualization tools quickly, and be
innovative in connecting data sources and information pieces
together to get answers to various and complex problems related to
recruitment and admissions. This position reports to the Executive
Director of Admissions, serves as a member of the Admissions
Central Administrative Team, and works closely with Enrollment
Research and Analytics on reporting, research and assessment.
The Office of Admissions is a quick-moving, nimble and
highly innovative enterprise. We seek to provide the highest level
of customer service and the most innovative approaches to
recruitment, admissions and transitioning students to campus. The
successful candidate will be an out-of-the-box thinker, willing to
explore new strategies and ideas, and look outside higher education
for inspiration. In addition to reporting and data visualization,
this position is responsible for development, nurturing and project
management for strategic initiatives. This includes a variety of
challenging, exciting projects, and some mundane, that require the
ability to work with a variety of colleagues and manage competing
priorities, while researching, writing and presenting professional
reports and completing complex projects, consistently meeting
deadlines and producing an accurate, outstanding product.
The position will possibly supervise student staff
members, in addition to assisting with the full complement of
admissions duties, including presentations and limited overnight
travel. The successful candidate must show a commitment to hire,
work with and serve diverse staff members and students, and
understand and value the various identities colleagues and
prospective students bring to campus. The candidate must possess
outstanding written and oral communication skills, including public
speaking, to communicate effectively and collaborate with a wide
variety of constituents, including, but not limited to, alumni,
prospective students, families, secondary and community college
personnel, and support and professional staff. The candidate will
also possess a working knowledge of microcomputer skills,
especially in PC environment with Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint; be willing to work under pressure, work extended hours,
such as early mornings, late evenings and weekends, as necessary
throughout the year; and have the ability to handle multiple tasks
at the same time. This position will occasionally provide on-campus
support to campus visit tours, Orientation and Destination Iowa
State programs, recruitment events, etc.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related
experience
Experience or education in reporting
Experience or education using data visualization tools
Experience or education with business analytics
Experience or education managing projects
Experience writing statistical summaries, data driven reports or collaborative proposals
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with university admissions policy, strategy or technology
